Nick Szabo is a well-known cryptographer who has gained fame through his work on cryptography in general and Bitcoin in particular. Nick Szabo is the creator of the concept of smart contracts; he published his first work on this topic back in the mid-1990s.
His work was a bombshell, since previously cryptography was mainly associated with finance. Szabo proposed a solution for a wide field of application. Szabo himself argued that its development could be a solution not only for finance, but also for the legal sphere and the sale of real estate.
With the advent of Bitcoin, many began to say that it was Szabo who was the developer of the world’s first cryptocurrency. He, however, rejected such statements, but did not stop writing on the topic of cryptography in general and decentralized finance in particular. Szabo talks a lot about how blockchain and cryptocurrency are connected, and is involved in educational activities.
Szabo's idea of smart contracts was one of the first to be implemented in Ethereum. However, in 2015, the concept itself caused a lot of controversy among community members. The contracts were even divided into prodigal, suicidal and greedy.
