The UK has amended legislation to allow crypto assets to be frozen without a court judgment. The National Crime Agency will be given enhanced powers to seize digital assets on suspicion of illegal activity from April 26, 2024. Criminals abroad can be stripped of crypto assets without prior detention.
These measures are expected to help strengthen the UK government's response to the use of cryptocurrencies in cybercrime, fraud and drug trafficking.
