Hashlabs Mining has launched a unique project in Finland that uses the heat from bitcoin mining to heat homes. The system combines ASIC devices WhatsMiner M63S with hydro cooling and the Finnish central heating system, transmitting hot water through insulated pipes to residential buildings.
This environmentally friendly initiative allows to use the heat generated during mining as an alternative to traditional fossil fuels such as peat and coal.
According to Hashlabs Mining co-founder Jaran Mellerud, two installations have already been successfully integrated with heating networks, with work on the third one underway.
"Bitcoin mining is the best source of reliable hot water for central heating," says Mellerud.
