Hashlabs Mining has launched a unique project in Finland that uses the heat from Bitcoin mining to heat homes. The system combines ASIC devices WhatsMiner M63S with hydrocooling and the Finnish district heating system, transferring hot water through insulated pipes to residential buildings.
This environmentally friendly initiative allows the heat generated during mining to be used as an alternative to traditional fossil fuels, such as peat and coal.
According to Hashlabs Mining co-founder Jaran Mellerud, two installations have already been successfully integrated with the district heating systems, and work is underway on a third.
“Bitcoin mining is the best source of reliable hot water for district heating,” Mellerud says.
